How to remove websiteblockonline.com browser hijacker

websiteblockonline.com is a malicious website, which AntivirusGT shows you in order to trick you into thinking that the computer is infected with dangerous viruses and trojans. The site stats:

This web site refused your connection as it was reported as a malicious request. This can be caused by Viruses, Trojans or Malware found on your computer.

This website is only a small part of the deceptive tactics used by AntivirusGT in order to create the appearance of infecting your computer and thus force you to buy its full version. AntivirusGT is a fake antispyware program, which looks like a real antispyware application, but in reality is unable to detect or remove any viruses and trojans nor will be protect your computer from legitimate future infections.

If you find that your computer is infected with this malware and your browser is redirected to websiteblockonline.com, then most important do not purchase it. Removal instructions for websiteblockonline.com browser hijacker


1. Run Internet Explorer, open Tools menu and select Manage Add-ons option. Select UpdateCheck.dll addon and click disable. Click Ok and OK again. Close Internet Explorer.

2. Right click to Task bar and select Task Manager. In the list of processes, select AntivirusGT.exe and click End process button to stop it. Click Yes to confirm it. Close task Manager.

3. Download Malwarebytes Anti-malware. Double click mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When installation is complete, make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

Once the program has loaded you will see a screen like below.

Select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan. When the scan is done, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. You will see a list of malware that  Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware found on your computer. Note: list of malware may be different than what is shown in the screen below.

Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. Once disinfection is finished, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.

Note: if you can`t download or run these suggested program above, boot your computer in Safe mode with networking and repeat the above steps once again.

  1. Had this virus in windows 7 and it disabled my "system restore". When I went to system restore the computer told me it had to be done by the administrator. Yea I am that guy on my home computer. Also I could not enable it until I used the f8 key to start in safe mode and did some tweaking and poking around. What a mess. Also used programs "Malwarebytes Anti-malware" and "SuperantiSpyware" Had to do full system scans at least twice on each on and kept updating them until it was up to date.
    Also had to run "Regedit" and run a search for "White Smoke" and kept clicking on the find button until it was done then redid it again. Finally virus was gone from computer and I was able to use "System Restore" and take computer back to date prior to getting Virus.
